Chelsea winger Angelo Gabriel has been rated among Europe’s top 3 players at the age of 18.

WhoScored have him with an average rating of 6.55, behind only Bayern Munich wonderkid Mathys Tel and Brighton striker sensation Evan Ferguson.

For a teenager playing just his first few months in Europe, that’s unbelievably impressive. While he was highly regarded, he wasn’t the sort of player people were really going mad about when we signed him, and heading to Strasbourg on loan seemed like a sensible stepping stone – as its proved to be.

Of course it’s an arbitrary number, but it’s based on a combination of all the stats he accumulates while out on the pitch, from passes and dribbled completed to crosses and assists.

If he can keep up this sort of for for the rest of the season that will mark a really remarkable breakthrough season, one better than we could have hoped for really.
