Chelsea’s interest in Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana has been well established, but it has gone quiet in recent days.

A report from this morning claims that this is because the Italian club and their goalkeeper are entirely focused on their Champions League final coming up on the 10th of June. After that, stories like this can move on, but until then there’s an understandable desire to shut out the outside world and focus on how the team can try to cause an upset against Manchester City.

The 27 year old has been great in the games leading up to this final, and kept Champions League clean sheets this season.

After that, things could move very quickly. The report as translated by SportWitness claims that the Italian club will ask for €40-45m for the goalkeeper.

That’s a lot, but not a crazy amount, and if Chelsea want to get this part of the team sorted very early, they could well pay that without too many questions and move on to the next stage of the transfer.

It’s not yet clear what new manager Mauricio Pochettino thinks of Onana, who has been a target for some time. The former Spurs boss may have some ideas of his own. But it seems very unlikely that he’s keen on using Kepa Arrizabalaga or Edouard Mendy, so he will likely back any club choice to be a new number one.
