Christian Pulisic, other USMNT players might miss World Cup qualifier at Panama due to travel ban

Multiple English Premier League clubs refused to release players to South American countries for September World Cup qualifiers because those nations were on the United Kingdom's COVID-19 red list, meaning the footballers would've had to complete quarantines that would've made them unavailable for multiple club matches.

According to The Associated Press (h/t ESPN), United States men's national team star and Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic is one of a handful of Americans who might miss an upcoming qualifier at Panama on Oct. 10 because of red-list travel issues.

The U.S. host Jamaica in Austin, Texas, on Oct. 7 and then welcome Costa Rica to Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 13, so coach Gregg Berhalter will likely have to leave any English-based American players back for the Panama match. Those footballers could train in either Texas or Ohio ahead of the Oct. 13 clash.

The AP listed Manchester City goalkeeper Zack Steffen, Norwich City forward Joshua Sargent, Fulham defenders Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson and Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath as Americans who may not be able to travel to Panama.
