Samuel Chukwueze has looked a player reborn at Milan in recent weeks, even with his two disallowed goals against Sassuolo, so should he start against Roma this week?

The 24-year-old Nigerian winger started life with the Rossoneri slowly, scoring two goals and providing just one assist in his first half-season at the club. After the Africa Cup of Nations, however, he has managed to find a new lease of life.

Chukwueze scored in Milan’s win over Hellas Verona last month and provided an assist in the win over Lecce a few weeks ago. In the recent draw with Sassuolo, he was punished by two bitterly tight offside calls, nullifying two goals.

Chukwueze rise

MilanNews.it took stock of Chukwueze’s resurgence at Milan in recent weeks, pondering whether he should start against Roma in the upcoming Europa League quarter-final second leg clash. It’s a must win game following their 1-0 defeat in the first leg.

The idea would be to start Olivier Giroud up front, with Rafael Leao on the left and Christian Pulisic in the centre, allowing the Nigerian to start on the right. Doing this against the Giallorossi would add another layer to the attack.

One possible downside, however, is that Chukwueze’s inclusion could leave Milan more defensively exposed, allowing Roma an easier route to goal.
