Manchester United are at Villa Park for today’s Premier League meeting against Aston Villa.

Last time out in the league, United lost 1-0 against Wolves so the Reds are still trying to climb into the top four. Anything other than a win today would be considered failure and the players really owe us a good performance.

They managed to record a 1-0 victory over Villa in the FA Cup on Monday night, with Scott McTominay scoring the only goal of the third-round clash at Old Trafford. The Scotland international is suspended for this tie, along with Luke Shaw.

But a strong Villa side could not overcome United in the cup. Steven Gerrard has lifted the mood at Villa Park, though, and the signings of Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne will only help that.

David de Gea starts in goal – in front of a back four consisting of: Diogo Dalot, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles.

Fred and Nemanja Matic will partner one another in midfield, while Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood look to create chances for striking duo Anthony Elanga and Edinson Cavani.

Manchester United XI: De Gea – Dalot, Varane, Lindelöf, Telles – Fred, Matic – Bruno, Greenwood – Elanga, Cavani.

United are without Cristiano Ronaldo, amid reports he got injured in training during the week.

Villa have won seven, drawn one and lost 11 of their 19 league games this season.

We hope United deal them another defeat today.
