Milan defender Simon Kjaer won’t recover in time for Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final second leg against Roma, but Mike Maignan will start in goal and Malick Thiaw will be available.

Milannews provided the latest Milan team news following the Rossoneri’s training session at Milanello on Monday morning.

According to the report, Kjaer won’t be available against Roma due to a slight muscle injury.

The Dane underwent medical examinations this morning and although they ruled out lesions, the experienced defender will remain out of action for at least one week. This means the 35-year-old could also miss the derby against Inter on April 22.

However, there’s good news for Thiaw and Maignan. The France keeper had missed Sunday’s 3-3 draw against Sassuolo but trained with the rest of the team on Monday, so he’ll start in goal against Roma.

Thiaw had a cramp in the final minutes of Sunday’s meeting at the Mapei Stadium. He will still be eligible against Roma, but Fikayo Tomori and Matteo Gabbia remain favourites to start in central defence.
