In Spain the line has often been that if Real Madrid want to move to Erling Haaland, then his agent Rafaela Pimenta will be able to facilitate it. However the most recent report on the Manchester City star is that Los Blancos will have to pay the same price as everyone else to sign him.

There has frequently been talk of an ‘affordable’ clause that could be of interest to Los Blancos, but Relevo claim that no longer exists. Last summer they say he had a clause that would have allowed him to leave for €125m had Pep Guardiola left the club, but that is no longer the case. Now they say his release clause is €175m, whether it be clubs in England or abroad.

In addition, they say that he has few reasons to leave Manchester City as things stand. Haaland feels little attraction to return to German football, and would only join Paris Saint-Germain in order to win the Champions League, but that would be his only motivation to do so. If Kylian Mbappe signs for Real Madrid, Haaland sees little space for himself, and while Barcelona would have been an attractive destination several years ago, their financial situation rules them out. Thus the likelihood is that he will remain at City for the forseeable.

Pimenta has always maintained that they will always put Haaland’s future in his own hands, and the Norwegian tends to be non-committal on his future in the press. There is definitely reasoning behind the logic above though, and at 24, few of his options are more attractive than City. Should Guardiola leave next summer though, then there will no doubt be further talk surrounding Haaland’s future as well.
