Tottenham Hotspur added Ivan Perišić a few weeks ago to help improve the wing-back position, but at 33 years old, it seems the north London club wants another option, likely a younger one. A player in the mix to fill this need is Villarreal’s Pervis Estupiñán.

Super Deporte relayed the information that Spurs wants Estupiñán at the request of manager Antonio Conte. The Spanish media outlet states that a deal for the Ecuadorian left-back would cost the Premier League club £15 million.

Despite the defender being available, Unai Emery would not be keen on seeing the 24-year-old exit the La Liga side since he’s a valuable piece to his squad that reached the UEFA Champions League semifinals last season.

Estupiñán made 41 appearances where he didn’t score a goal and recorded two assists. The Ecuador international didn’t put up offensive numbers, but perhaps Conte might see the characteristics he wants in a left-wing-back.

Furthermore, Spurs might want to buy low now rather than see his price increase should the Villarreal man have a good performance at the World Cup later this year.
