Antonio Conte has been linked with Napoli, Milan and Juventus, but now Manchester United are reported to be looking to him as the heir to Erik ten Hag.

The former Italy, Inter and Tottenham Hotspur boss has been taking time out since leaving Spurs in March 2023.

He had been approached by Napoli earlier this season when Rudi Garcia was fired, but wanted to complete his sabbatical before returning to work.

Napoli are ready to try again, with Juve also potentially interested in a second stint on the Bianconeri bench.

Milan had also been linked, though seem to have turned towards other options.

However, reports from Spain and England now suggest that Manchester United are looking to Conte as an ‘experienced’ option to lead the revamp next season.

Manchester United are in flux after the takeover by INEOS and ten Hag seems unlikely to remain at Old Trafford.

Conte has always enjoyed Premier League roles, winning the title at Chelsea, but complained that Tottenham had no history of success.

He cannot say that about Manchester United, even if the current club is a long way off the heights of Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.

Curiously, Conte had already seemed to be close to the Manchester United bench in 2021.
