Erik ten Hag is facing no shortage of troubles at Old Trafford this season. So far in the Champions League, United have lost both matches. In the English top flight, things have not fared much better. Good news has finally arrived, though. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Victor Lindelof, an integral part of the Dutch coach’s defence, would like to pick up his option to stay with the squad until 2025.

Victor Lindelof Desires Longer Stay with United

The Italian tweeted the news that the veteran Lindelof “feels quite likely” that an option in his United contract “will be activated” which would keep him with the club until 2025. A centre-back and right-back in nature, the Swede can also be deployed as a defensive midfielder and joined the Red Devils from Benfica in 2017.

“Absolutely,” Lindelof stated regarding his intentions to stay with United. The 29-year-old also went on to say that he enjoys the club and representing it is something he loves to do. There is no guarantee, however, that his extension will happen. “We will see,” the veteran noted when pondering whether he will “continue at United?”.

Lindelof’s Importance at United

After getting acquainted with the Premier League in the 2017/18 campaign, the defender has established himself as a necessary part of United’s backline. He has appeared in seven of eight matches this season.

Many supporters are clamouring for change at United. This change, though, does not look to be happening any time soon. For now, the team must find a way to unite and utilize the pieces they have to put together a successful campaign. Lindelof is crucial in that aspect he is a member of an older Red Devils’ guard, but still possesses the skill to perform at the top level.
