Cristiano Ronaldo apparently wants Spain boss Luis Enrique, formerly of Barcelona where he had great success, to take over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.

That is the latest from Sky Sports, with United expected to consider Enrique as a possible replacement shortly after sacking Solskjaer.

The Norwegian’s job became untenable at United after Saturday’s 4-1 defeat against Watford, but the board delayed their decision to fire him throughout the international break. These results have become a trend.

It is thought the former Barcelona manager would be interested in talking to officials about the United job.

Having Ronaldo’s backing could be significant, too.

Sky Sports also claim Zinedine Zidane and Erik Ten Hag are being considered by the hierarchy.

We shouldn’t forget how Enrique won the treble with Barcelona in 2015, so he is a well-respected coach in Spain, and it is no wonder that Ronaldo would be keen to work with him in England.

I highly doubt David de Gea will be tipping Enrique since he hardly gets a look in with Spain these days.
