Darren Bent believes Sir Alex Ferguson is the best manager to ever work in the Premier League.

Of course, the former Premier League striker isn’t wrong.

Some people have short memories and believe that Pep Guardiola deserves a mention alongside Ferguson, but let’s not be foolish by forgetting the fact Man City have 115 charges hanging over their head.

Bent insists Ferguson sits top of the list for the best managers to have ever worked in England.

“I wouldn’t put Pep Guardiola above Sir Alex Ferguson just yet, Sir Alex dominated for 20 years and he kept rebuilding his hard-to-beat teams with world class players,” Bent told LordPing, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“Pep is just behind Sir Alex, and can win a few more titles, he won’t have to get to the 13, maybe eight or nine, then he will pass him. We’ve not seen anyone transform players like he does.

“Currently, the best managers in the Premier League is Fergie at one, then Pep second, Jurgen Klopp behind him, Wenger and Mourinho.”

It’s amazing that Bent has Klopp ahead of Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger, yet the German has only one Premier League title to show for his nine years in English football.

Bent must also think Guardiola will be sticking around at City for the foreseeable future. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if next season was his last at the Etihad Stadium.
