AC Milan have made a call regarding Simon Kjaer ahead of Saturday’s game against Fiorentina but they remain unsure regarding his contract situation, a report claims.

As Calciomercato.com recall, Kjaer was forced to come off in the 65th minute of the match between Denmark and Switzerland due to muscle discomfort, which raised some alarm among the Milan medical staff.

The defender then returned to Milanello and carried out the necessary checks which ruled out any possible injury to his thigh, but it was nevertheless decided, today, to exclude the Dane from the list of players called up for the game at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Kjaer will therefore not be available to Pioli as a precaution, in view of the upcoming matches in the league and the Europa League. In his absence, Davide Bartesaghi or Jan-Carlo Simic should be called up.

In terms of the future beyond this season, the Rossoneri leadership have yet to decide whether or not to renew Kjaer’s contract.

The former Sevilla man would like to stay, but he knows that he is now 35 years of age and that the management are looking to sign a new centre-back ahead of next season, which plays against his chances.
