Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski has established himself as one of the star players of the team since joining the club.

Having encountered numerous defenders week in and week out, often besting many while occasionally coming in second, Kulusevski undoubtedly knows who the best defender out there is.

In a recent interview on Tottenham’s official YouTube channel, Kulusevski was asked to name his toughest opponent. Without hesitation, the former Juventus player cited Liverpool’s formidable centre-back, Virgil van Dijk.

He acknowledges Van Dijk’s defensive prowess, a sentiment shared by many players, underscoring the Dutchman’s lasting impact on the English top flight. He stated:

“Van Dijk, and then fast players. You know when someone is really fast it can be annoying.”

Since joining Tottenham from Juventus in January 2022, initially on an 18-month loan deal that was later made permanent in June of the same year, the 23-year-old has made 86 appearances for the North London outfit, tallying 13 goals and 19 assists. (Transfermarkt)

TBH Says:

Van Dijk is one of the best defenders the Premier League has seen, which is why his choice is not surprising, as the Dutch defender has been named the toughest opponent by quite a few players in the last several years.

The good thing is that Spurs have their own version of Van Dijk in Micky van de Ven. He has been an outstanding signing for us and has proved with his performances this season that he has a big future ahead of him.
