Rasmus Hojlund has enjoyed a great start to 2024, with the Danish international scoring seven goals in his last six Premier League appearances.

Hojlund’s stunning goalscoring run followed a long goal drought in the league, despite netting five times in the Champions League group stage.

His progress was halted slightly when he sustained an untimely muscle injury that ruled him out for three weeks but he made his return to the pitch last weekend, starting against Liverpool in the remarkable 4-3 win in the FA Cup.

Now, he has jetted off to link up with his Denmark team-mates for the latest round of international fixtures and speaking ahead of those matches, manager Kasper Hjulmand has made an interesting admission about an ‘agreement’ between the Danish association and Manchester United.

Hjulmand claims that the two sides have agreed on how much Hojlund will be able to play, insisting that there is no cap on for how long he can play for Denmark in their next game.

“We have an agreement with United about the total amount of playing time in the two matches,” Hjulmand said, according to the Metro.

“He plays from the start against Switzerland and there are no restrictions on how much he can play in that match. Then we’ll see what happens after that match. Our staff has put together a plan with Erik ten Hag on how he will get the best build-up after Rasmus’ injury period. It is both for our good and their good.”

As it seems, Hojlund will start against Switzerland and Hjulmand is not opposed to keeping him on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes.

At club level, Hojlund’s minutes are being carefully managed as he only featured for the opening 71 minutes of the game against Liverpool.

Denmark face Switzerland and the Faroe Islands in friendlies in the next five days but hopefully, Hojlund is used sparingly and he returns to Old Trafford raring to go.
