Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed that Alessandro Buongiorno is “top of the shortlist” for both Inter Milan and Napoli in defense.

The Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert named the Nerazzurri and the Partenopei as leading candidates to sign the Torino defender live on air, via FCInterNews. Juventus and AC Milan, meanwhile, are “further back.”

Di Marzio notes that both Inter and Napoli are ready to make defensive reinforcements this summer.

Both last season’s Serie A champions, and this one’s, want to sign a defender.

And 24-year-old Italian international Buongiorno would certainly be a logical candidate for any team in Serie A to want to sign.

The Torino man has had an outstanding season at the heart of his team’s defense.

Buongiorno is a defender with excellent pace, strength, and man-marking ability. He has marshalled the Granata’s penalty area well this season.

Di Marzio: Alessandro Buongiorno “Top Of The Shortlist” For Inter & Napoli

Recent reports have indicated that Napoli are preparing a big offer to Torino for Buongiorno.

The Campanian team are reportedly ready to make an offer that meets the Granata’s €40 million valuation, including add-ons.

Di Marzio confirms that Napoli are serious about wanting to sign Buongiorno.

But they are not the only ones.

Di Marzio reported live on Sky that Inter are also very much in the race to sign Buongiorno.

The Sky transfer expert anticipates that the 24-year-old is the player at the “top of the shortlist” for the Nerazzurri.

Naturally, a deal for Buongiorno will not be easy. The price tag will be tough for a club in Inter’s position to meet.

But the Nerazzurri could make a real effort.

Meanwhile, Di Marzio reports, AC Milan and Juventus are also eyeing up Buongiorno. But only in the event that they make a major sale this summer.

Without a big sale, neither the Rossoneri nor the Bianconeri would be likely to move for the Torino defender, expects Di Marzio.

And then, there is also interest from the Premier League.
