AC Milan are preparing for a ‘revolution’ in the summer and they have targeted an Aston Villa centre-back as they look to build for a title charge, a report claims.

According to Diario AS, Milan are preparing for next summer by looking not only at who the head coach might be but also which players could be brought in to plug various holes that currently exist within the squad.

The report mentions firstly that Rafael Leao remains on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar as a replacement for Kylian Mbappé, but Geoffrey Moncada is focusing on signing a new central defender and likes the profile of Diego Carlos.

Pioli has not been able to find the key when it comes to building a solid defence, given that Milan have let in 39 goals in the league, while there have also been repeated injury troubles involving the starters.

Carlos is one of the most liked names among the management but the operation will not be easy. Diego Carlos still has two more years on his contract with the Villains, who will seek to recover part of their investment with his sale.

At 31 years old and after a serious injury, the defender has completed a great season at Aston Villa, being the third most used centre-back by Unai Emery with 2,188 minutes, only behind Ezri Konsa (3,831′) and Pau Torres (2,850′).
