Donny van de Beek left Manchester United on loan earlier this month for Bundesliga outfit Eintracht  Frankfurt.

The Netherlands international struggled to settle at United and he couldn’t work his way into Erik ten Hag’s plans this season, hence why he left on loan at the start of the January transfer window.

Van de Beek, 26, has started three matches with the in-form Bundesliga side, although he has failed to prove his worth just yet.

Matters were made worse on Friday when he was taken off at half-time in a 1-0 win over Mainz.

The Netherlands international was played in an advanced midfield role, as one of two No. 10s, but he failed to have any impact on the match whatsoever.

Van de Beek attempted eight passes, including three in the opposition half but only one of those was successful. He touched the ball 14 times before being hauled off.

Starting in previous games against RB Leipzig and Darmstadt, Van de Beek has yet to last a full 90 minutes for Eintracht Frankfurt.

It’s bad news for United if Van de Beek proves to be a flop at Eintracht because he remains under contract at Old Trafford until 2025. United had hoped that the midfielder would kick on or at least protect his current market value by impressing in Germany.

We must note also that Van de Beek has missed a lot of football lately, so it may take him time to reach full match fitness as well as sharpness.

Van de Beek is one of the players INEOS will aim to sell at the end of the season.
