Houston Dynamo FC midfielder Artur signed a contract extension through the 2025 season on Thursday.

Financial terms were not disclosed by the Dynamo, who hold options on the deal for 2026 and 2027.

Artur, a 27-year-old native of Brazil, has recorded two goals in 33 matches (30 starts) this season, his first with Houston.

"I'm really happy to stay in Houston," Artur said. "I'm excited for everything that's coming up for the club. I'm proud of the trust that the team has put in me. ... It's been fun to have a successful season with my teammates on the pitch this year, and I'm excited to continue pushing to achieve even more with Houston Dynamo FC."

Artur was acquired from the Columbus Crew in a cash deal last Nov. 22. The Crew, in turn, received $200,000 in general allocation money (GAM) in 2023, a guaranteed $100,000 in GAM in 2024 plus up to another $50,000 in GAM in potential performance-based incentives.

"Artur has been one of the big drivers of our club's resurgence this season. His quality on the field has made our central midfield one of the best in the league and his leadership has helped cultivate a winning mentality in our locker room," Dynamo general manager Pat Onstad said. "We made re-signing Artur one of our priorities as we begin preparations for next season and we are thrilled that he, his wife Rachel, and his daughter have chosen to commit to Houston."

Artur has totaled four goals and nine assists in 171 career matches (154 starts) with the Crew (2017-22) and Dynamo.

The Dynamo (13-11-9, 48 points) have locked up a playoff berth in advance of their final regular-season game at Portland on Oct. 21.
