English Premier League still wants to resume season

The fate of the English Premier League season could come down to a vote. EPL clubs reiterated their desires to resume the season when it is safe to do so, but a vote on May 8 could decide when, how and if the season resumes, according to ESPN's James Olley.

However, the voting could be impacted by England's review of lockdown restrictions on May 7, so we may end up seeing the season canceled before a vote is even necessary.

While clubs would like to see the season resume, some players have expressed their displeasure with the idea of continuing the campaign amid coronavirus concerns.

If the season does return, teams will likely play games at neutral sites without any fans in attendance — which seems to be the standard among leagues that have been allowed to return to action.

Unfortunately, things don't look great for a Premier League return. France's Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 have been canceled due to the coronavirus, and it only seems logical for the EPL to either cancel the season or continue the halt in play.

Many other professional sports leagues have yet to make decisions regarding a return to play, and it seems like leagues in the United States won't pick up again until the summer at the earliest.
