Altay Bayindir will fill the void between the sticks on Sunday when Manchester United travel to face Newport County in the FA Cup.

The fourth-round tie sees the 20-time champions come head-to-head with League Two opposition, so Erik ten Hag may opt to give several fringe players a chance to showcase their abilities with a starting role. Although, if his team selection against Wigan Athletic is anything to go by, perhaps not…

There is expected to be one new face amongst the starting 11 though when Bayindir is finally granted his club debut over four months on from his deadline day arrival last summer.

Onana benched for crucial AFCON match

Daily Mail’s United Confidential column had already claimed that the Turkish international was set to feature in the clash regardless of Andre Onana’s availability status, however, Cameroon’s progression this evening has likely set the decision in stone.

Onana, who was involved in a notorious fallout with national team coach Rigobert Song at the 2022 World Cup, was dropped from the line-up for the Indomitable Lions’ final group-stage game after conceding three goals last time out against Senegal.

Having already retired from international duty before, it remains to be seen if the decision will cause friction between the player and manager.
