Espanyol are reportedly gearing up to make a move for Lazio centre back Mario Gila in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Biancocelesti picked up the 22-year-old Spanish defender from Real Madrid Castilla last summer for around €6 million, adding a talented but relatively untested player to Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

Gila has struggled for consistent minutes this season in Rome, seeing just 764 minutes of action for Lazio across 12 games in all competitions.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Espanyol are interested in bringing Gila back to Spain in the summer and are planning to submit an offer to Lazio.

Despite his low amount of minutes, the Biancocelesti still believe in the qualities of the Spanish defender and do not plan to sell him at the end of the season.

Gila is contracted to Lazio until June 2027 and has shown his potential when given the chance this season, so it’s hard to imagine the club giving up on him after just a year.
