According to Mundo Deportivo, former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Dea has been considered by Barcelona as a potential summer replacement for goalkeeper Inaki Pena.

Luís Maximiano of Almeria is another goalkeeper that Barca are keeping a close eye on. Right now, the Portuguese goalkeeper is on loan from SS Lazio.

The technical staff at Barca is evaluating whether to let Pena go at the end of the season. It’s no secret that Pena’s performances in the three months that he filled in for Ter Stegen did not impress the club.

During that time, the 25-year-old Spanish goalkeeper gave up 32 goals and only had three clean sheets. That meant he would undoubtedly be back on the bench as soon as Marc-André Ter Stegen was cleared to play.

In 545 appearances in all competitions, De Gea, 33, kept 190 clean sheets throughout his twelve years at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard made an amazing 58 appearances and had 25 cleansheets in what ended up being his final season with the team in 2022–23. The Red Devils won the EFL Cup, ending a six-year trophy drought.

De Ge was let go by manager Erik ten Hag for his inability to play from the back which the Dutch manager prefers. However, his replacement Onana has failed to shine at Old Trafford following his move from Ajax last summer.
