Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu admits that he made an error to allow Udinese to score their opening goal.

The 30-year-old spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 Serie A win.

Inter got the win they were after from the Bluenergy Stadium.

But the Nerazzurri had to do it the hard way. They gave themselves work to do in the second half by conceding the opening goal to Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic towards the end of the first.

It was a sloppy goal to allow, in truth. Exactly the kind of thing that Inter have mostly avoided this season.

And there were a few players who certainly shared some of the culpability.

Both goalkeeper Yann Sommer and wingback Denzel Dumfries got themselves in a complete mix-up to allow Samardzic’s shot to cross the line.

But it would be unfair to simply blame those two for the goal.

There was also a bit of a defensive breakdown to put Samardzic in a position to shoot.

And it was an errant pass from Calhanoglu that gave the 22-year-old the opportunity.

Hakan Calhanoglu: Sorry For Misplaced Pass On Udinese Opening Goal

Calhanoglu’s passing was largely as solid as ever yesterday evening.

The Turkish international has to be careful with when and where he plays the ball considering his role as Inter’s deep-lying playmaker.

But he did have one moment where he kept it too casual. And Inter were punished for it.

“We got a bit stretched,” Calhanoglu said.

“I’m sorry because I misplaced a pass to Denzel, and then we conceded.”

“The goal was a bit unfortunate,” Calhanogly said. “But then I think we started the second half very well.”

“We deserved to win because we never gave up,” the former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder said of the comeback win.
