Former Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic still remembers his disallowed goal against Inter in the 2009-10 Champions League semifinal second leg at the Camp Nou.

Looking back on the moment in a press conference, via FCInterNews, the Spaniard recalled the effort as something of a sliding doors moment but also noted that he doesn’t like to dwell on it too much.

Inter progressed to the final of the 2009-10 Champions League in one of the most memorable matches of their recent history against Barcelona in 2010, a match which the Nerazzurri lost 0-1 on the night but progressed due to a 3-2 scoreline on aggregate.

Things could have been much different had the Blaugranas scored late on, however, which they thought they had done briefly after Krkic stuck the ball in the back of the net in the dying minutes of the match.

Given that the away goals rule had been effect at that time, a 3-3 scoreline would’ve been enough for Barcelona to reach the final due to their away goal at the San Siro.

However, the goal was ruled out for a handball by Blaugranas midfielder Yaya Toure in the buildup, meaning that Inter held onto their aggregate lead in the tie and reached the final of the competition, in which they beat Bayern Munich to crown their European Treble.

“When I went home I never looked back on that moment, I didn’t really want to think about it,” Krkic said of his disallowed goal.

“Who knows, maybe if that goal had stood history would’ve been different, but I don’t really like to think about it.”
