Yann Sommer is still cautious about the Serie A title race, even with Inter Milan holding a fifteen-point advantage at the top.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 Serie A win over Genoa, the 35-year-old warned that there are still “a lot of matches left to play.”

This weekend went about as well as Inter could have hoped it do.

Title rivals Juventus dropped points yet again, losing 2-1 away to Napoli.

And Inter found a way to win by that same scoreline against a tough Genoa side who pushed them until the final whistle.

This means that Inter now have clear daylight at the top of the Serie A table.

The Nerazzurri, who have won nine matches in a row in a league and twelve in all competitions since 2024 began, are fifteen points clear at the top.

Mathematically speaking, Inter just need a few more results to wrap up the title.

But in football, it is never wise to take anything for granted. Inter’s next couple matches are against very tough opposition in the form of Bologna and Napoli.

And following that, things won’t necessarily get any easier.

Yann Sommer Cautious About Inter Milan Serie A Title Charge

As far as Inter’s title pursuit, Sommer admitted that “We are certainly in a good situation.”

“But we think one match at a time. And there are still a lot left to play.”

The Swiss former Bayern Munich keeper noted that “A difficult match awaits us on Saturday against Bologna.”

“Then we’ve got Napoli after the Champions League.”

“All the matches are tough. But we want to take as many points as we can and see how far we can go,” Sommer said.

The 35-year-old said that against Genoa, “The two goals we scored in the first half were important.”

“We were expecting a difficult match. They’re a good team in good form.”

“The important thing was to bring home the three points,” Sommer added.
