Inter Milan midfielder Davy Klaassen names his compatriot Dennis Bergkamp as his childhood role model.

The 30-year-old rescinded his contract with Ajax in late August to sign for the Nerazzurri as a free agent.

The former Everton man is yet to carve himself an important role in Simone Inzaghi’s plan. He has only made three appearances as a starter across all competitions since joining the club.

However, the Dutchman is proud to don the famous Black-and-Blue jersey, while revealing Bergkamp as his idol.

“I grew up with the myth of Dennis Bergkamp,” said Klaassen in his interview with Matchday Program via FcInterNews.

“Jari Litmanen is another Ajax legend who I have always admired.”

Bergkamp plied his trade at Inter between 1993 and 1995 before joining Arsenal. He cemented himself as one of the greatest strikers in the history of the North London club.

For his part, Klaassen tells how becoming a professional player had always been a dream of his.

“Becoming a footballer has been my dream since I was a child. I trained hard every single day on the pitch to make it happen.

“I built the foundations during my time in the Ajax Youth Sector. Today, I am happy with where I have arrived. Inter is a great Club and I am proud to wear this shirt.”

The Nerazzurri midfielder also revealed how he always intends to have fun on the pitch while giving everything for the team’s cause.

“When I’m on the pitch, I always try to have fun and give my best so that everything goes well for the team. This is the most important thing.

“Loving this sport is the basis of everything. There will always be difficult moments in football, but passion is the essence to achieve great things.

“Football has made me experience incredible moments such as scoring a goal in the World Cup with the Dutch national team, or the hat-trick during my time with Ajax.”

Klaassen’s contract with Inter will expire at the end of the season, leaving his future up in the air.
