Former Juventus striker Vladimir Jugovic identified Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella as the best Serie A midfielder.

The 54-year-old spent several years in Serie A, representing Sampdoria, Juventus and Lazio.

With Lazio hosting the Bianconeri on Saturday, the retired forward gave his input on the clash between two of his former employers.

The interviewer asked him to choose between Adrien Rabiot and Luis Alberto, but Jugovic instead went for a third option, naming Barella as his favorite Serie A midfielder.

“Between Rabiot and Luis Alberto? I’m gonna go with Barella,” said Jugovic in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“The Italian star is my favorite Serie A midfielder.”

The 27-year-old has cemented himself as a stalwart for both club and country.

The Sardinian made the move from Cagliari to Inter in the summer of 2019. He rapidly carved himself a starting spot and has now become the club’s vice-captain.

The midfielder’s contract with the Nerazzurri is valid until 2026. Yet, the club is eager to put his signature on a new deal and push back the deadline.

On another note, Jugovic pinpoints the Derby d’Italia defeat at the hands of Inter as the turning point in Juve’s campaign.

“In the first part of the season, Max Allegri’s team went beyond all expectations.

“But the most difficult aspect in football is staying at the top and maintaining consistent results.

“Juve is always Juve, but in the last period, it just doesn’t seem to be the original and authentic version. But still, you can’t be too careful around them.”
