Real Madrid wants Kylian Mbappé; there were ready to spend big money this summer transfer window. However, now with the player on the verge of free agency, they want to do everything in their power to secure the 22-year-old.

Nonetheless, former Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello states that  Los Blancos should think long and hard before pursuing the France international.

The Italian tactician spoke to Corriere dello Sport, stating that any money invested into landing Mbappé could instead go to strengthening other areas on the squad.

Capello thinks Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti should reinforce his backline when the transfer window reopens. However, as tempting as it is to go all out for Mbappé, the likes of Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio are already providing enough offensive football in the final third.

“It will take some time to rebuild. Madrid needs a couple of central defenders: I saw them against Mallorca, oh my,” Capello said.

“But they look good up front, even without Mbappé, because they have interesting talents. Barcelona cannot move; they have economic problems. But with the stadiums full, revenues will increase, and slowly they will open a new cycle.”

Likely, the Spanish side doesn’t take this advice as they’re close to possibly landing Mbappé; they’ll risk their squad having a weakness for the time being if it means they can get the PSG forward.
