Manchester United are set to submit their official bid to sign Raphael Varane in the coming days, according to reports. The Frenchman is set to leave Real Madrid this summer and is the subject of strong interest from Manchester United.

Varane is back in training with Real Madrid this week after returning from his holiday but could now be set to make the switch from Spain to England.

According to journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United will send their official bid for Varane ‘in the next few’. Furthermore, it is claimed that the Old Trafford board is ‘confident’ and that a deal is ‘getting closer’.

Varane has just one year remaining on his deal at Real Madrid and has so far shown no inclination toward committing to a long-term contract at the club, as confirmed by Romano above.

The 28-year-old is also said to be close to agreeing personal terms with Manchester United as he seeks a new challenge. No other clubs are believed to be in the race to sign the France international.
