Liverpool are focused on finishing the Jurgen Klopp era with a bang by winning the Premier League title before the German gaffer leaves at the end of the season. They are also planning for the future and there has been an interesting development concerning one of their rumoured targets in Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners.

Liverpool Could Face Juventus Competition For Teun Koopmeiners

Reds Current Stance On Koopmeiners

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the Reds are interested in the Dutch midfielder and have been scouting him in this campaign. With that being said, the journalist adds that “a lot will depend” on the Reds’ decision on who replaces Klopp as the new manager when it comes to whether or not they want to move forward with their interest in Koopmeiners.

Romano also insists that it’s too early to talk about Liverpool’s summer transfer plans before a new manager has been appointed. However, the journalist claims that Juventus have become the current favourite to sign the Atalanta midfielder at the end of this season and that he has been a top target for a long time. The Bianconeri are also claimed to have a solid working relationship with their fellow Serie A side and are interested in signing the midfielder in the summer.

How Has Koopmeiners Reacted To Liverpool Links?

The 26-year-old midfielder was told about the rumours of the Premier League heavyweights being interested in him earlier this season, to which he responded by saying: “I saw the links and stories about Liverpool — nice to see that but I’m 100 per cent focused on Atalanta, I’m so happy to play here.”

Moreover, it has been reported that Atalanta will want a fee of around the range of £51.5 million- £55 million to let go of their prized midfielder in the summer window, irrespective of whoever wants to buy him. Koopmeiners, who has been praised as “invaluable” this season, has scored 12 goals and provided four assists for Atalanta so far in this campaign. He can operate as an attacking midfielder but can play in a deeper midfield role, as it remains to be seen if Liverpool seriously pursue his signing once the summer window closes in.
