Facundo Pellistri is excited at the prospect of making his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League when Manchester United take on Bayern Munich.

The Reds travel to Bavaria this week ahead of their Champions League group stage opener on Wednesday night.

Pellistri, 21, has a wealth of experience from his international career but he has yet to really break into the team at United.

The Uruguay international came off the bench for the third time in the Premier League this season, so he is still waiting for the his first start of the season. He probably won’t get a better chance again with Antony out on leave and Jadon Sancho being forced to train away from the squad.

Pellistri will be hoping to get more minutes against German giants Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

“It’s one of the best tournaments in the world,” Facundo Pellistri told club media at Carrington recently. “Manchester United deserves to be there, as we are Manchester United, we have to give everything.

“The Barcelona games [in last season’s Europa League play-off] were amazing and we are looking forward to those types of games in the Champions League. We are ready to play against everyone.”

This interview must have took place a while ago because with United’s current injuries, I’d say it is a stretch to say we are ready for everyone.

United’s injury list consists of players such as Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Tom Heaton, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane and now Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
