FC Dallas suspends Jesse Gonzalez after alleged domestic abuse

On Friday afternoon, Major League Soccer club FC Dallas confirmed that it has suspended 25-year-old goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez, who has represented the United States Men's National Team, following alleged domestic abuse incidents.

Via an official statement, the club said:

"Earlier this week, we learned of allegations involving goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez.

"FC Dallas takes these matters extremely seriously and fully supports the league’s swift action to suspend the player while an investigation takes place. We continue to work closely with Major League Soccer regarding this.

"As this is an ongoing investigation, FC Dallas will not have further comment at this time."

According to Front Row Soccer, MLS also declined to comment on Friday.

Gonzalez, a homegrown signing for FC Dallas, made his senior debut for the club in 2015. In January, the club announced a new four-year contract with Gonzalez.

On Wednesday, FC Dallas confirmed one player had tested positive for COVID-19. That unnamed individual was the second MLS player to test positive since the start of the virus outbreak.
