FIFA president Gianni Infantino has unexpectedly praised Manchester City star Phil Foden.

The 53-year-old supremo dedicated an Instagram story to the 23-year-old winger this week.

Foden, who is a Man City youth product, won the U17 World Cup and is now a senior England international.

Along with showing pictures of Foden's achievements, Infantino wrote: On this day last year, FIFA U17 World Cup 2017 champion and that edition's Golden Ball winner, Phil Foden scored his first FIFA World Cup goal, showing how FIFA youth competitions help progress careers."

Foden has been in and out of the City team over the past 12 months, but appears closer to his best form this term.
