Celtic last tonight come out and dismissed former Hearts chairman Leslie Deans ‘innacurate’ claims regarding their handling of the Barrie McKay flashpoint at Celtic Park last Thursday night during an SPFL match.

The Celtic hierarchy addressed the incident immediately in the aftermath of the game between the two sides. The club released a statement and launched an investigation after McKay was the victim of missile launching morons at the corner flag which houses the Green Brigade.

A Celtic spokesperson replied after the ex-Hearts chief mouthed off about how Celtic dismissed the incident. The spokesperson said: “His comments are inaccurate. He is clearly unaware that we have already made comment and that we were in contact with Hearts immediately after the incident, which is being handled appropriately.”

If Mr Deans had been keeping an eye on proceedings as closely as he thinks he has, he would have noticed Celtic’s statement after the game last week that went as follows: “Clearly such behaviour has no place at Celtic Park. We have already been in contact with Hearts, the club will also investigate the matter fully and we will take all the appropriate action.”

Give them their due, they are good at releasing statements our lot. So, no cigar Leslie big fella, better luck next time. I’m sure you’ll be able to join in on the chorus of people attacking our Japanese player Kyogo Furuhashi in the meantime.

Only in Scotland.
