Arthur Melo has rekindled his career at Fiorentina and could get a reward for his impressive start to life at Artemio Franchi with a permanent move from Juventus. La Viola surprised many when they offered the 27-year-old a lifeline in Serie A following a troublesome spell in Turin, but their gamble has paid off.

Fiorentina and Juventus brokered Arthur’s temporary switch to Tuscany in July, almost immediately after the Brazilian returned from an embarrassing loan spell at Liverpool. Expectations were never high, but the former Barcelona midfielder has done extraordinary things during his early life under Vincenzo Italiano.

He has featured in all nine Serie A matches this season, registering seven starts and managing one assist. And it seems like he has convinced Fiorentina to negotiate his permanent arrival with Juventus. According to CalciomercatoLa Viola already have a buyout clause at €20 million, payable over three years.

It required Arthur to extend his expiring contract at Juventus until 2026. But despite his resurrection at Fiorentina, the deep-lying playmaker has no future at the Allianz Stadium. It gives Italiano’s side more reason to pursue a deal. Yet, they’re willing to play a waiting game to drive the price down.

Arthur’s new contract at Juventus includes a €10m release clause that will become active in 2025. As such, Fiorentina could try to extend the Brazilian’s loan for another season, which would allow them to sign him for half the price they agreed in the current arrangement.
