Fiorentina have made contact with Atlanta United to explore a move for winger Thiago Almada, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The Viola have been looking around for a new winger to bolster Vincenzo Italiano’s front line this month and in recent days they sent in offers worth around €20m for Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson and Inter’s Valentin Carboni, both of which were rejected.

Fiorentina are also open to picking up a player from abroad, sounding out deals for América forward Brian Rodriguez and Augsburg winger Ruben Vargas.

As reported by Di Marzio, Fiorentina opened talks with Atlanta to explore a possible deal for Almada in the final days of this January transfer window. They were informed that the 22-year-old has a €25m price tag, a fee considered too high in Florence.

In recent weeks, the Argentinian winger expressed his desire to leave the club and make the jump to Europe. He is currently at the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament with the Under-23 national team.
