Fiorentina are searching for a new winger and while talks for Ruben Vargas broke down, they are turning to Club America’s Uruguay international Brian Rodriguez.

The Viola need reinforcements in attack, particularly in the wide areas, after Nico Gonzalez sustained an injury and others underperformed in his absence.

The main target was Ruben Vargas, but Augsburg rejected the offer and seem intent on keeping hold of the Switzerland international.

Now Sky Sport Italia claim that Fiorentina have turned towards another target, namely 23-year-old Rodriguez of Club America.

He has 21 senior caps under his belt for Uruguay, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

Rodriguez can play on the right or the left flank, while his former clubs include Penarol and LAFC.

The transfer from LAFC to Club America in the summer of 2022 came at a cost of €6m and his contract with the Mexican side runs to June 2026.
