Flamengo have reportedly sent in an offer to Roma for defender Matias Vina, who is currently on loan at Sassuolo.

The 26-year-old Uruguayan centre back joined the Giallorossi from Palmeiras in the summer of 2021 for around €13m but failed to look particularly convincing in his first season at the club, which saw him fall out of Jose Mourinho’s plans for last season.

Vina spent six months on loan at Bournemouth before returning to the Italian capital this summer. He then headed off to Sassuolo on loan, where he featured regularly before suffering a painful knee injury.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Flamengo have come forward to offer Roma a deal worth around €8-8.5m total for Vina, figures that have proven convincing to the Italian side.

The 26-year-old’s agent is in Italy and met with the Giallorossi directors at a hotel in Milan on the weekend to discuss the situation.

Should an agreement be reached, Vina would be recalled from loan at Sassuolo before heading off to Flamengo.
