Chelsea knocked Blackburn Rovers out of The Carabao Cup last night to advance into the quarter finals of the competition.

The Championship side proved to be a tough opposition for Chelsea but really, The Blues controlled the game and didn’t really have to get out of third gear to comfortably advance to the next round.

Most of Chelsea’s good work in terms of an attacking sense was coming through that man Cole Palmer once again, who has been nothing short of fantastic since arriving from Manchester City in the summer. He has been Chelsea’s shining light in an often gloomy circumstance as they continue to struggle in the league.

Palmer has earned rightful praise from fans and pundits alike in the footballing world, and last night he was on fire once again.

In fact, those were the exact words that former Chelsea player Jason Cundy used about Palmer last night.

As cited by The Chelsea Chronicle, while on commentary duty for Chelsea’s official club website, the former Blues defender said: “I have to say, Cole Palmer right now is on fire. He is Chelsea’s best, most influential player, no question about that.

“Every time he gets the ball, something’s going to happen. He’s got that ability. He reminded me a little bit of Bernardo or David Silva.”
