Former France international Samir Nasri has rejected Antoine Griezmann’s place as an all time Les Bleus great.

Griezmann has played a key role for France for almost a decade with 44 goals scored in 127 international matches.

That tally places him fourth on both the appearance maker and goal scorer list for his country alongside a FIFA World Cup title win in 2018.

Despite his enduring importance to France, as he prepares for Euro 2024, Nasri does not believe he deserves to be considered on a par with former France stars.

“He doesn’t fit into the ‘Top 5’. But, he does fit into the ‘Top 10’. In my opinion, Zidane, Platini, Henry are ahead of him”, as per an interview with Canal+, via Marca.

“There are others I could put on the list. Raymond Kopa, although I did not seen him play.

“Winning a Ballon d’Or or the Champions League is above everything and Griezmann has not done that.”

Nasri’s comments are unlikely to split France fans in their view of the veteran forward who has continued to evolve and play across multiple positions for the national team in recent years.

His spot in the France starting XI is secure for Euro 2024 and he has not indicated any plans to opt for international retirement when the tournament ends in July.

France continue their preparations for Euro 2024 with Griezmann called up for the March friendlies against Germany and Chile.
