Arthur Masuaku scored a stunning goal direct from a wide free-kick to seal a 3-1 win for DR Congo against Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals on Friday.
With everyone seemingly expecting a cross from the former West Ham United defender, Masuaku used the element of surprise and smashed home a powerful shot from near the left touchline in the 82nd minute.
This was only the third goal of 30-year-old Masuaku's international career.
It came after ex-Newcastle center-back Chancel Mbemba and Brentford forward Yoane Wissa had found the net to put DR Congo in front following Mohamed Bayo's first-half opener for Guinea.
DR Congo will now face either Mali or tournament hosts Ivory Coast in the semi-finals next Wednesday.
Masuaku currently plays his club football for Besiktas in Turkey but he spent six seasons at West Ham between 2016 and 2022.
Friday's crazy strike for DR Congo was remarkably similar to Masuaku's one and only Premier League goal for the Hammers, which came against Chelsea in 2021.
