Argentina and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has claimed the Yashin Trophy for 2023.

The shot stopper has won the award for the best keeper in the world at the Ballon d'Or awards.

However, Martinez was booed by France fans inside the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.

The keeper has not been forgiven for his penalty shootout antics as he helped his nation beat the French in the final in 2022 in Qatar.

In fact, former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba had to step in and ask fans to stay quiet when Martinez's saves were shown in video clips.

I'm full of emotion to have won this," he said after winning the award.

Without my teammates at Aston Villa and in the Argentina national team, this wouldn't have been possible this moment in my career."
