Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio attended Champions League quarter-final clashes in Barcelona and Manchester while seeking new opportunities on the market.

Unfortunately for the Nerazzurri, their European adventure this season was a relatively short one. Simone Inzaghi’s men exited the UCL following dramatic penalty shootouts against Atletico Madrid.

Yet, Ausilio still grabbed himself a close seat for the Champions League midweek action.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Inter director began his tour in Barcelona on Tuesday.

He witnessed the second-leg encounter between the Blaugrana and Paris Saint-Germain. The clash ended 4-1 on the night in favor of the visitors who booked their ticket to the semi-final. They won 6-4 on aggregate.

Afterwards, the 51-year-old headed to England to attend the major showdown between Man City and Real Madrid. Following a 4-4 draw on aggregate, the Spaniards prevailed in the shootouts.

As the source explains, Ausilio was on duty as a Nerazzurri emissary. He took the opportunity to chat with some of his colleagues as well as player agents.

Inter Milan Sporting Director Piero Ausilio Sought Opportunities Between Barcelona & Manchester

While the pink newspaper doesn’t mention any names, the Inter sporting director was reportedly seeking some clarification on the situation regarding some possible transfer targets.

In the meantime, Ausilio and the rest of the management are still waiting for the situation regarding the club’s ownership to be resolved.

Inter owners Suning are currently facing an uncertain future at the club as the Oaktree loan will expire on May 20th.

Club president Steven Zhang is currently working on a plan to refinance the debt.
