After the game between AC Milan and Juventus, which ended 0-0, the Rossoneri CEO Giorgio Furlani spoke to the media. In addition to the future of Rafael Leao, he also spoke about the manager rumours, saying that ‘enough is enough’.

Milan have been linked with a plethora of managers since the defeat against Roma in the Europa League, with Stefano Pioli now expected to depart. In our latest bonus article on Substack, we wrote about how we got here and offered an update on the managerial pursuit.

Speaking to DAZN after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Furlani was asked about the post-Pioli era and he urged the media to stop with the name-dropping. He also responded to the words of the Curva Sud about the future of the club.

Is Leao part of Milan’s future?

“Rafa is a Milan player, he has a long contract and wants to stay at Milan. So he will stay.”

Today there are many rumours about the next Milan manager. Will Pioli remain?

“We have a coach, his name is Stefano Pioli. We are focused on finishing the season well. It didn’t go as we hoped, we are Milan and we want to win. We are in second place and we are focused on finishing the season well.

“Many rumours are going around, but we want to continue working hard and focus on the rest of the season. All these rumours are a bit annoying. Even the players said it, we all say it, enough is enough. We would like to play football, win games and stay in second place.”

So do you deny contact with Lopetegui?

“Dozens of names have been mentioned by the media, by you. We are already planning the future on the mercato front, we want to strengthen the team. This year we didn’t win but that’s the goal. This is what we work on.”

What weight does Zlatan Ibrahimovic have in your decisions?

“Zlatan was a champion on the pitch and he is showing that he is one off the pitch too. He is an intelligent, curious person who brings a lot of experience, many years of playing football in many different clubs and countries. His ideas and opinions are fundamental in decisions regarding the future of the club.”

What are the areas that you think can be strengthened?

“I always say don’t ask me technical questions. Zlatan and Geoffrey will speak. The important thing is to improve and achieve goals and victories in the future.”

What do you feel like saying to the fans to reassure them in a moment like this?

“The fans have always supported us, they are the best in the world and we are grateful and lucky. They are an asset to the club, they are very important to us. If they are dissatisfied it is because they are ambitious like us. We must do better to reach the goals.”

It remains to be seen what will happen, but full focus is on the current season and only at the end will a decision be announced by the Rossoneri.
