Barcelona star Ilkay Gundogan is a transfer target for Turkish side Galatasaray this summer.

Gundogan is currently away on international duty with Germany ahead of Euro 2024 on the back of his first season in Catalonia.

The veteran midfielder completed a free transfer move to Barcelona ahead of the 2023/24 campaign after captaining Manchester City to a trophy treble.

The 33-year-old is under contract at Barcelona until 2025, and his intention is to reject any interest that comes his way, including from Galatasaray.

A future move to Turkey could be an option for Gundogan, but is not rumoured to be pushing for an exit, despite interest in him.

Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek was asked about the club’s interest in Gundogan, ahead of a Champions League campaign in 2024/25, and he admitted a deal remains as a perfect option for him.

“We need to sign about three players to compete in the Champions League. Maybe it’s time to try to complete my dream signing, Ilkay Gundogan”, he said.

Gundogan will not make any firm decision on his future at Barcelona until after Euro 2024 and he is reportedly keen to work under new head coach Hansi Flick next season.
