In the last few days, Julen Lopetegui has been heavily linked with AC Milan as they look set to part ways with Stefano Pioli in the summer. The newspapers focused on the Rossoneri’s interest this morning, confirming that the links are concrete.

Following the defeats against Roma, despite playing 11v10 for 60+ minutes in the second leg, Pioli is on thin ice and a departure appears inevitable. Naturally, the media has been naming potential candidates for the job and Lopetegui seems to be the favourite for now.

Today’s newspaper focused on Milan’s interest, confirming that the Spaniard is No.1 on their list, so let’s take a look at the front-page headlines.

The headlines

Gazzetta dello Sport

“The race for the Milan bench: Lopetegui is in the lead. They also like Gallardo, but the list is long…”

“Pioli, farewell with a bonus as Napoli are interested.”

Corriere dello Sport

“Milan: Lopetegui is close. The Spaniard has met Moncada several times.”

“He is the first choice for the post-Pioli era. But watch out for Manchester United.” Click to view slideshow.
