A determined, confident sounding Giorgos Giakoumakis spoke to Celtic TV ahead of this evening’s Champions League match in Warsaw against current Group F leaders Shaktar Donetsk.

The Greece international striker talks about the match against Real Madrid, despite the disappointing scoreline, being one of his career highlights as the match gave the Celtic players the chance to test themselves against the best side in the World and for an hour, Giakoumakis notes, Celtic had the best chances.

It’s unclear whether Giakoumakis will keep his place leading the line for Celtic or whether Ange Postecoglou will opt instead for Kyogo who appears to have fully recovered from that shoulder problem he endured in the opening seconds of the 4-0 win over theRangers.

Meanwhile UEFA have confirmed this afernoon that following a pre-match planning meeting there will be no minute of silence ahead of tonight’s match in Warsaw. On this news, breaking, check out this from the MSM…CELTIC won’t hold a minute silence…Celtic are the AWAY side, it’s a UEFA match under their rules!

Here’s Giakoumakis speaking to Celtic TV…

Meanwhile the Celtic striker will be re-united with his Celtic teammate and fellow countryman Vasilis Barkas shortly as both players have received international call-ups with the Celtic goalkeeper earning a recall for his excellent performances in the Eredivisie for Utrecht. The rebuidling of the Greek goalkeeper’s career after eduring a period of dreadful form and lost confidence at Celtic, is good news for the Hoops as it could lead to a permanent trasfer and recovery of at least some of the £4.5m Celtic spent on him,  a club record for a goalkeeper.
