After a hiccup to start the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a loss to Saudi Arabia, Argentina and Lionel Messi have put themselves back on the rails as they’ve won three games in a row.

The Albiceleste picked up a win over Australia on Saturday to advance to the tournament’s quarterfinals. Through 30 minutes of action, the Socceroos were stingy on defense, not allowing a goal, then at the 35th-minute mark, Messi found the back of the net.

Messi has scored in three of the four fixtures for the South American nation in Qatar, and Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez provided some insight into the Paris Saint-Germain star’s mindset at the World Cup, knowing it’s likely his last tournament.

“To see Lionel Messi giving everything on the pitch.. I get goosebumps,” Martínez told Dutch media outlet AD.nl (h/t The European Lad). “As a teammate you give everything for him. He is the greatest of them all. To have him as my teammate makes me extremely proud.”

Argentina hopes that Messi can continue this form as Friday will see the CONMEBOL side take on a Netherlands team that’s equal on talent and coming off a 3-1 win over the United States in their Round of 16 matchup.
