Olivie Giroud is expected to leave AC Milan at the end of the season and as such, the Rossoneri will need to sign a striker this summer. While this signing was already planned, the pursuit has certainly been intensified, as a report claims.

Milan have been looking for a new No.9 for a few years now, keeping several players under close observation, and all that scouting should result in a signing this summer. While the Rossoneri have several players on their radar, there are a couple of standouts.

According to today’s edition of Corriere della Sera, as cited by MilanNews, Milan have Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting) and Joshua Zirkzee (Bologna) under ‘special observation’ for the post-Giroud era. Two players who are bound to be a bit pricey this summer, but CEO Giorgio Furlani has stressed the importance of investments.

Zirkzee is perhaps the most realistic option seeing how much interest Gyökeres has attracted, but nothing can be ruled out for now. The only certainty is that Milan will invest a decent chunk of their budget on the No.9 role, which indeed should mean a top-quality striker will arrive.

As the newspaper concludes, Luka Jovic is also set to renew his contract with the club and remain a backup for next season as well.
